Starting and finishing outside the Barkly Square cafe, enjoy a walk along the nearby Specimen Vale Creek track to the Eureka Centre and return.
Then you might choose to join the Chatty Wednesdays group to share a cuppa, snack and chat near the cafe afterwards.

Walking Group Details
Where: Meet under the shade sail outside the Cafe (near the Ballarat Regional Multicultural Council building), Barkly Square (25 - 39 Barkly Street, Ballarat East, opposite the old Fire Station).
Time: 9.30 am departure for an anticipated 10.30 am return.
Day: Wednesdays during school term:

Term 1: 31 January - 27 March
Term 2: 17 April - 26 June
Term 3: 17 July - 18 September
Term 4: 9 October - 11 or 18 December (TBC)
Duration: Approximately 45 minutes - 1 hour.
Distance: Approximately 1.8 km each way (3.6 km return)
Who can attend: Everyone is welcome to join the group. We will try to stay in one group and walk at a pace which suits everyone. Prams, kids on scooters/bikes and pets on a lead are welcome. People using wheelchairs/motorised mobillity devices are also welcome to attend if the terrain is suitable.
Terrain: The Specimen Vale Creek Track is relatively flat for most of this walk. There is a short hill between the Barkly Square building and the track and a very short slightly steep section as the route heads south towards the Eureka Centre.
Potential Hazards: The track is unsealed for most of the way. There are 8 road crossings (all on relatively quiet roads). Some crossings have signage to warn cars of the walking track, others don't. When wet, some parts of the track may be slippery.
Options: If you would like to leave the group halfway, the cafe at the Eureka Centre may be open.
If you don't want to walk up the hill to the Barkly Square building, you can meet the group at the Princes Street South road crossing.
